This collection is an attempt to deal with, or at least circle around, these duel aspects of science. About the Poet: Robert Chute's poetry and collage poems have appeared in many journals including Beloit Poetry Journal, BOMB, The Cape Rock, Cafe Review, The Literary Review, and Texas Review. He received the Maine State Chapbook award for Samuel Sewall Sails For Home. Beloit Journal's Chad Walsh Award "Heat Wave In Concord." Other poetry books include Thirteen Moons in English, French, and Passamaquoddy (2002), and most recently, Bent Offerings, from Sheltering Pines Press (2003). Essays In All Directions, a chapbook of short poems is coming soon from Moon Pie Press. Born in Maine, Robert Chute attended Fryeburg Academy and U. Maine (BA Zoology, 1950). After studies at The Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health Chute taught and conducted research at Middlebury College, San Fernando State, and Lincoln University (PA). He returned to Maine as Chair of Biology at Bates College. Now Prof. Emeritus of Biology at Bates College, Chute's scientific publications include papers in parasitology, hibernation physiology, general biology, environmental studies.
