C., tells tales of the vintage fishing village at the southern end of North Carolina's Outer Banks, from the 1500s to the present. Richly illustrated with some 300 images, the book reveals Beaufort's salty spirit and colorful rogues and heroes, from Blackbeard to astronaut, as well as its distinctive historic cottages, wild banks horses, wilderness seashore, fishing heritage, hurricanes and wartime history. It also lists accommodations, attractions and restaurants in this coastal destination. In addition to the authors, several Beaufort residents contributed anecdotes, episodes and memoirs, photographs, memorabilia and art, including Mary Cotter Hurst's cover etching of a Sharpie sailing by the Beaufort waterfront.
