Love and Power : Glimpses of the Gospel for those addicted to self

Washington, DC, is one of the most fascinating cities of the world. Is this because of its great power? Perhaps. Certainly, the city captivates because of those who are drawn to it. This tapestry of people includes the talented, the smart and those driven to change the world. The place, therefore, often breeds an exalted view of, or concern with, the self, that is, narcissism. Yes, it's possible for those who make the District of Columbia their home to fall in love with themselves.

The US Constitution defines the nature and limits of power but does not speak about love. The Old and New Testaments not only speak about the definition and scope of true power and love, but address the realities of being addicted to self. The gospel found in these ancient books reveals the path to freedom from such suffocating addiction. This gospel is not a self-improvement formula or life philosophy. Nor is it a religion. The freedom from narcissism that it offers centers upon the person and work of Jesus of Galilee.

Love and Power will help anyone with an open mind consider his sacrificial life, teachings and impact upon addiction to self.
