The Pledge of Three: The Z.O. Chronicles — Book One

As Zack Owens waits for his mom to finish work, he passes the time by looking through some old books. When he opens one on the Middle Ages, an odd piece of paper entitled, "The Pledge of Three," falls out. It describes the lives of any three individuals who choose to take, The Pledge. Two of the three lives will be changed forever: one will become wealthy and famous, one will remain the same, and one will die. Zack has never been a believer in a chosen fate-he has spent his life adhering to the notion that his future was in his own hands. Zack's two best friends convince him that the three of them should take The Pledge. Zack Owens once thought he had complete control of his life…now that he's taken The Pledge, he's not so sure.
