Description:

Cashing In is a fast paced action story of a Fedex radio technician, Hugh Spencer, and his wife Maggie. They own a home on a five-acre parcel of land just east of Kearney, MO. Hugh's father-in-law, and brother-in-law dwell there too. Maggie's father is quite eccentric, and her brother, a Vietnam veteran, suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. Loud, unexpected noises will transport Gil back to the jungles in a flash! A giant of a man, he is abruptly returned to the Ho Chi Minh trail many times during the course of the story. At a hilltop radio site, Hugh discovers a suitcase full of one hundred dollar bills. The money is badly needed, and he finds himself incapable of turning it over to the authorities. In keeping the money, Hugh inadvertently embroils his family in a running gun battle with a Kansas City drug lord. Maggie's personality submerges in times of stress, and that of her great grandmother's surfaces to lead them into battle. Maggie's great grandmother was Zerelda James (the mother of Frank and Jesse). Their small pasture, just two miles from the old James farm, becomes a rapidly growing cemetery for slain villains. Ever sensitive to the prying eyes of the law and their nearest neighbors, Hugh disguises the graves by planting walnut trees above them.
