Beyond Recovery to Restoration: working with the trauma of sex abuse
Description:
Sexual trauma leaves victims disconnected from their full capabilities and sense of identity. Typical recovery paradigms do not provide direction for being restored to ones full potential or to the power found in authentic identity. Restoration provides a pathway for the victim of trauma to be restored to all he was created capable of being. Through the four Restoration Ranges of Refugee, Overcoming, Conquering and Identity the victim of sex abuse is enabled to reconnect to her authentic self and go beyond the label of survivor. Restoration focuses on self awareness and identifying mis-beliefs that deny freedom and requires exchanging those belief structures for truths that provide freedom. Each Restoration Range is described, possible mis-beliefs are identified, obstacles within each range are revealed and therapeutic approaches suggested.
