Karen LaMonte: Absence Adorned

LaMonte uses the dress as a sculptural form and metaphorical symbol to examine space and art and to reinterpret the tradition of draping and adorning the human form to convey notions of prestige and wealth. The reproductions in this companion to LaMonte's exhibition at the Tacoma Museum of Glass reproduce skillfully the haunting sense of absence that her glass sculptures evoke.
