Reflections of a Reluctant Alaskan

Twelve times, the young soldier from Alabama told the Army to send him "anyplace but Alaska." Sixty-two years later, he's still in the 49th State where he made his mark as weekly newspaper editor, mayor, baseball coach, community booster and author. "Reflections of a Reluctant Alaskan" tells how he and childhood chum Bobby Bowden were involved in a bicycle accident that eventually led Lee to join the Army. What he found after arriving in the place he didn't want to go makes for interesting reading. It is a wonderful glimpse into life in "the Great Far North."
