Lullaby for the Dead
Description:
Captain Monteith Fergusson resigns his commission in the Indian Army to assume not just his dead brother's missionary calling in Africa but his fiancee too. The year is 1881 and jockeying among the powers of Europe for control of the continent is heating up. A deputation arrives from Edinburgh to decide the fate of the beleaguered mission, and when murder is committed Monteith finds himself--not unreasonably, he believes--the chief suspect.
