Photographer Jim Erickson first felt drawn to the subject of Mother through his love of paintings. In countless hours in countless museums, he found himself attracted more and more to paintings of mothers. In 1996, Jim decided to dedicate his personal work to the subject of Mother, and for four years he carved time out of his demanding schedule to create these pictures. The result is a book both universal and intimately personal.
