These stories look at the tumultuous bond between man and nature and the price man must frequently pay for his naive mitakes. Even in a civilized society, the ugliness of man shows itself and ordinary citizens must pay the ultimoate price. About the Author Stephanie L. Fowler was born and raised in Salisbury, Maryland. She attended Parkside High School where shewon the Old Home Prize in 1997 for her senior thesis on the history of Salisbury. Following her passion for writing, she attended Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland. Washington College is a small, liberal arts school and is well known for its writing program. There, Stephanie studied English literature, American literature, and Creative Writing. Her love of the Eastern Shore was rewarded at agraduation. On may 20, 2001, she won the Sophie Kerr Prize, Washington College's most prestigious undergraduate award. The Sophie Kerr Prize is the largest undergraduate literary award in the Country. Her entry for the prize wa a series of creative non-fiction short stories about the Eastern Shore entitles "Crossings: A Journey Into God's Country." Those stories are included in this book with the addition of "A Forgotten History" which did not appear in the original thesis. Stephanie lives in Salisbry, Maryland.
