NAPOLEON IN EGYPT; Napoleon Journal #13

In embarking for Egypt, twenty-nine-year-old General Napoleon Bonaparte and his men set off as much in pursuit of the ghosts of Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar as they did to strike a blow against the hated English. Successfully evading the British ships sent to intercept his army, Bonaparte landed and captured Cairo after defeating the Mameluke overlords. However, Rear Admiral Horatio Nelson finally cornered the French warships in Aboukir Bay and delivered a devastating blow to Bonaparte's plans for Egypt.
