It's 1950. The major Hollywood studios are crumbling and so is Film Noir actress Margo Grant's marriage. When a Hollywood gossip columnist reveals the details of her producer/husband's new love interest, she heads for a Reno divorce ranch in a bluff she hopes will bring her straying husband back to her. When Margo gets off the plane in Reno, the last thing she expects is to meet someone like Jack. But meet him she does, and from that moment on the sparks fly. The other women on the ranch quickly dub the beautiful but distant Margo "The Duchess", trading barbs as the tension of waiting six weeks for their freedom begins taking its toll.
