Description:
The House Dream project has formed the nexus of Hoffos's studio practice for the past five years and serves as a compendium of the artist's signature new/old media techniques which have been perfected over seventeen years of art production. This multi-channel video installation incorporates breathtaking optical illusions through the apparatus of the everyday. With television monitors, black masking tape, and mirrors, Hoffos uses pre-digital tricks of illusion to reveal secretive model worlds peopled by ghostly figures that drifted, paced, and paused before our eyes. Four original essays provide a career overview of this major Canadian artist. Publication of a exhibition touring to the National Gallery of Canada, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, and the Illingsworth Kerr Gallery. Co-published with Rodman Hall Art Centre, Brock University and TrepanierBaer Gallery.
