College Recommendations Write or Wrong: The Educators' Guide to Successful Recommendation Writing

This book will provide the recommender with guidelines for more effective letter writing. We have surveyed the colleges to learn what value is placed on different kinds of letters, and we have included the results of our survey as well as examples of letters that are useful. In addition, we offer advice for the student requesting recommendations from teachers, counselors, coaches, employers and others, as well as hints on how to elicit the best possible recommendations. Finally, we hope the reader will use this book as a resource to assist the student in gaining admittance into the school that is not necessarily the most selective, but the best match for him or her.
