The Climax Locomotive

This book, containing over 650 photographs plus drawings and production records, is a comprehensive look at one of America's most unique and fascinating steam locomotives. Only a little over 1000 of these industrial workhorses were ever built, but those saw service all across America and overseas as well. Most Climax engines served in lumber and mining operations because of their power and ability to take sharp curves, climb steep grades, and run on light track and questionable roadbeds.
