Trees of the American Southwest

Ideal for backpackers and field naturalists, this guide discusses and illustrates native and naturalized trees that grow wild in the American Southwest. Regions covered include Arizona, New Mexico, western Texas, the southern regions of California and Nevada, and adjacent areas of Mexico. The 174 species of trees of the region are divided into six major groups according to easily recognized characteristics. The illustrations emphasize visual details that may not be clearly visible in a photograph, and a key is provided for recognizing trees in leafless seasons.
