History of Brevard County, Vol. 2

The Brevard County Historical Commission, recognizing the need of a well-researched , academic history of their county, commissioned Dr. Jerrell Shofner, then chair of the History Department of the University of Central Florida, to write the manuscript. Members of the Historical Commission supplemented this text with photographs, documents and illustrations to produce a book that gives a complete picture of the Indian River from the Ice Age through the Space Age. Volume 2 begins with the real estate boom of the 1920s and traces the events that have affected Brevard County through the beginnings of the Space Age to the current period. Along the way we get to know some of the people as well as the economic and political forces that shaped the county.
