Katlin's Fury
Description:
Katlin's husband runs off to the California gold fields in 1849 with all of her funds, so she follows him. She takes the steamer from New York to Panama, crosses the Isthmus, and proceeds to Sacramento. Enroute she befriends an orphaned girl and a young seaman with consumption. She also falls in love, in spite of herself, with a handsome plantation owner. The story is set against the rich background of the Panama Crossing in 1849, and filled with authentic early California history.
