Proceedings Series Volume No. Seven This volume is based on selected papers on the environment and conservation from the Fourth International Biennial Conference of the Borneo Research Council held at Universiti Brunei Darussalam in June 1996. Several of the papers have been updated and two (on the Danum Valley and Danua-Sentarum) submitted and accepted after the conference. The theme of the conference was development and diversity in Borneo, and this is reflected in the papers which were concerned with both the preservation of cultural and environmental diversity and means by which conservation can be integrated with development.
