The poems contained here represent a wide range of experiences of a poet who is like an infiltrator behind enemy lines. Yet the poet does not go out of his way to find his subjects; they are there, as in the very lyrical title poem, in the most ordinary circumstances, lurking like nearly forgotten repressions.
