Spaghetti Corners and all that....Sauce
Description:
Spaghetti Corners was the heartbeat of the old Greenbush neighborhood. Vibrating with pride and mouth-watering aromas, the Park and Regent streets intersection simmered with sauce waiting to be ladled with love. The ten-block, 52-acre triangular-shaped melting-pot affectionately referred to as Little Italy, Little Sicily, or more affectionately, the "Bush," was delectably seasoned with Jewish and black neighbors who lived together in harmony. Unfortunately, the ethnic enclave, so often misunderstood, lost its identity during a 1960s urban renewal project. Today, though only a memory, it lives on fueled by a passion to capture its ingredients from 1900 to 1960 in the author's fourth and final self-published "Greenbush...remembered" book to savor for a lifetime.
