This is portfolio of over 20 postcards featuring the Ice Craving Festival held annually in March in Fairbanks, Alaska. Each postcard has a different scene of various ice sculptures, including shots of carves at work on the sculptures. Both night and day scenes are depicted. Colored lights are used which given the ice carvings additional depth and beauty. These photos were taken during the 1990 Festival. International Carvers come China, Japan, Russia and other countries including the United States as well as local carvers from Fairbanks. The back covers lists various facts about ice such as: "Ice worms, first discovered on Muir Glacier in 1887, eat pollen grains and fern spores." Post cards can be torn out and mailed of course!
