For nearly a century, Goodspeed's in Boston was one of the world's preeminent rare book shops. The firm was founded in 1898 by Charles Eliot Goodspeed. The "Bookseller's Appentice" is written by Goodspeed's son, George, who worked at the shop, first as an employee and then as its director for over 70 years.
