Stories of A Century: Cloquet Centennial Book of Reflections, 1904-2004

Over the past few months we have had the privilege of getting a first look at what has evolved into a special collection histories and personal remembrances of life over the past 100 years in Cloquet, Minnesota. We use the word "privilege" because, in spite of the many hours spent reading, editing, compiling, and organizing this volume, it also became apparent that we had been given access to each author's heart as they wrote about the topics that have meant the most to them. We also realized that it would be impossible to tell the story of every individual in a book this size; however, it is our hope that the stories and histories we have included here are representative of the character of the citizens of Cloquet. Resilient, caring, hard-working, and hopeful are only a handful of the words that come to mind when attempting to describe a typical resident of Cloquet, and these and many more are contained within the stories that are told on these pages. We hope that this book will trigger as many memories for you as it did for each of us; and as you celebrate Cloquet's Centennial, we hope that you pause to remember the many individuals who have made Cloquet what it is today.
