Ojibway Chiefs

This volume consists of a collection of biographical sketches of some thirty leading, most nineteenth century, chiefs among the Ojibway, or Chippewa, people, particularly those who lived south of Lake Superior between Sault Ste. Marie and Red Lake, the so-called "Southwestern Chippewa." After a lengthy discussion of Ojibway chieftainship, the book covers such chiefs as Broken Tooth, Hole-in-the-Day, Great Buffalo, White Cloud, Shabashkung, etc..
