Mara and her siblings have to go to bed, but there are trolls under the bed who want to eat the kids. The kids don't want to go to bed, but they certainly don't want to get eaten. Some can be talked to, some can be reasoned with, and some cannot. Mara and her siblings have to escape danger and certain doom. They have to protect a baby who can't protect himself, and Mara learns even her big sister and brother need to be protected too.
