Wings of Creativity

Since independence from British colonial rule in 1957, Malaysia has been developing its own cultural identity. How has it developed so far? As a population comprising Malays, other indigenous groups such as the Iban, and Kadazandusun, plus Chinese, Indians, Eurasians, and others, we are shaped by myths and symbols inherent in our respective cultures. At the same time, we benefit from a broader, homogenous sense of identity that unites us as one people - 'banga Malaysia' - in modern-day Malaysia. The concept of flight for this book is apt and symbolic; it is an expression of our belief that the imagination is what empowers us to soar in mind and spirit - to reach higher, to dream the impossible, to express if not explain the human condition. The imagination emboldens us in the pursuit of excellence. Combined with integrity and commitment, the imagination is the resource that enables us to fully apply ourselves to reaching the highest standards in all our endeavors. Within the pages of this book, long in preparation, is one portion of the country's creative activities. The work is by a number of individuals who gathered under the umbrella of Limkokwing Integrated and produced some major campaigns for the country: it is work from the minds, young and old, and runs the gamut from packaging design, product design, publications, corporate identity visual systems, signage systems to multi-faceted campaigns requiring large-scale research, strategy and project management, media planning and communications. Included is also an historic campaign for voter education in South Africa's first ever democratic election.
