Rural Life in Runfold in the Second World War

The Author Bernard Green came to live in Runfold at the
age of two. He attended East Street School in Farnham.
This was followed by attending Heath End Secondary
Modern School. It is now addressed as Heath End School,
Farnham, Surrey.
He was not aware that he was Dyslexic until he was in his
20's. His difficulties at school has not hindered him in any
way as he has travelled extensively having been in the
Merchant Navy, Royal Engineers, a Skydiving Instructor,
and a Commercial Hot Air Balloon pilot.
In 1970 Bernard purchased his property in the Sands
village and married his wife Peggy on 23rd May 1980.
He then settled down with his wife to operate a famous
transport caf� at Runfold called Alf's Caf�.
In this book are stories that relate to his father's activities
in WW2 in the Black Market. Also are his activities as a
child and observations about life in a rural environment
during the war years.
His interest in writing only started on retirement in 2012
with writing poetry and he became a 'runner-up' in a Daily
Telegraph International competition.
