The Centurion

Roman Centurion Valerian is left in command of the rump of the remaining Twentieth Legion at ancient Chester defending against the Pictish and Hibernian pirates that raid the western shore of Britannia. The uncertainties of his life in these troubled times are made worse by his discovery of his real origins in a pagan Druid family and of their secret inheritance as guardians of the Celtic Cauldron of Rebirth. Valerian sees the end of Rome's empire in Britain and the spreading of a dark curtain across the land as he must choose between his Christian faith and his family's sworn inheritance. Enemies both physical and supernatural battle it out against the dawn of the Dark Ages and the true origin of the myths of King Arthur and the Holy Grail.
