Wartime Schooldays in Boston

Memories of growing up and going to school during World War Two. Shows the change to routine when war started e.g. carrying gas masks, air raid shelters in the school playground, blast walls and black-out shutters, evacuees from Hull, airmen billeted in most houses, posters with slogans, rationing of food, clothes and sweets, air raid wardens, plane crashes, no oranges nor bananas, no petrol, no church bells, no railings, morale boosted by radio and cinema, films on Sunday night, concerts in the park and church halls, bombs and casualties. Later, American airmen, gum, comics and nylons, VE Day, bonfires and May fair, VJ Day, dancing in the streets, letter from the King.
