Bristol: then and now

Bristol, like other large cities in Britain, has greatly changed over the years. Old buildings have been pulled down for modernisation, and roads have been widened. The older pictures in this book reflect a period from 1900 until the 1950s, and although some areas are completely unrecognisable, some features still remain, and are a focal point, especially for younger Bristolians who don't remember the 1950s, let alone the pre-war days. One such example is Henleaze Lane, now Henleaze Road. Only Henley Grove Lodge still survives today, all that is left of Henleaze Park Estate. This book, by two people who can just remember the pre-war days, and two who know Bristol mainly as it is today, hopes to capture the imagination, through the changes in Bristol, Then and Now.
