In the wake of the hurricane

The wind that blew in from the sea in the early hours of October 16, 1987 and changed the face of southern England prompted newspaper editor Bob Ogley to produce an instant book showing the devastation in a large area of West Kent and beyond. In little more than a month "The the Wake of the Hurricane" sold 25,000 copies and was a best-seller in a dozen towns. This new book, produced by popular demand, will have a wider appeal. It traces the story of one of the greatest storms ever to hit our shores and describes how those of us in this heavily populated, but normally insulated, area of Western Europe now have a far greater respect for the forces of nature.
