The emphasis in the directory is on company ownership, management details, production processes employed and raw materials used, as well as information on each company's products, annual capacity and output. Increasingly, as more information becomes available concerning Eastern Europe, the former USSR and China, the previously sparse entries for these areas are becoming more substantial. At the same time, the processes of privatization and globalization are bringing about major changes in the ownership of many metal producing companies, and these are also reflected in the directory.
