The first en-masse diesel workings over the S & C came in 1961 when the 'Peaks' took over haulage of through passenger workings,but at the time most enthusiasts were busy choosing steam traction.However,the early 80's saw on upsurge in diesel photography,brought about by the closure threat to the line,and the fact that the line was a regular stamping ground for 1960s vintage diesel types which were steadily being phased out.This twenty year period up to the late 80's is admirably captured in this delightful title,with superb illustrations and extended captions throughout.
