Nathan Hale 1776; Biography And Memorials

Johnston's 1901 publication was based on the large amount of new information about Hale that was discovered since the earliest biography of him, published in 1856, including much of Hale's correspondence and other material. The book presents an essentially complete account of Hales' four years at Yale, his career as a schoolmaster, his joining the Continental Army shortly after Lexington, his participation in the Battles around New York, his capture, and execution.
