The basic source for the New England Indian Wars of the late 1600s, gathering annotated texts documenting the wars of 1675, the captivity of Mary Rowlandson, and the "Decennium Luctuosum" of Cotton Mather (1699), an account of the ten-year struggle with the Indians in the last decade of the seventeenth century. Much of the material reflects the international aspects of these struggles in the light of events in Europe and Canada.
