The Poet

In her poems, Vivian Shipley celebrates the rich possibilities of life and even with the risks and limitations of it all, insists that living on this earth is splendid. So much of what I read a poem for is here: specifics and sounds that delight me; unexpected but persuasive turns toward ever more delightful details; and a closure that lets me walk away with more than I hoped. Her poems express much of the splendor we all need, a sense of wonder and recognition and hope. Whatever we are, we are, and these poems accept and embrace and celebrate. Walt McDonald
