Laughing in the Kitchen

Five diverse women (Li Min Mo, Elena Harap, Aura Luz Sanchez, Blanca Bonilla, Mary Millner McCullough) whom met in Boston gathered for many years to write and perform their work. Their poetry, memoirs, stories and essays weave many worlds into one tapestry. Journeys, struggles, change; come together in an alchemy of love and vitality. The Streefeet Women, a culturally diverse company of writers and performers, was founded in Boston in 1982 by Mary Millner McCullough and Elena Harap. The group creates theater based on the writings of its members, celebrating the dignity and creativity with which ordinary women live their lives. Streetfeet performs in places where women live and work-in neighborhood libraries, community centers, prisons, schools, colleges and churches, as well as regional conferences.
