A Charm for Jo (Turtle Books)

Jo, who has muscular dystrophy, is a 3rd grader. She has anxiety about moving from a special education school to a general classroom school following a family move. Her mother gives her a charm to wear, hoping it will help her focus her feelings. Jo finds that the school has prepared activities to include her in the total program. As a result, her anxieties fade away. She has a great first school day and no longer needs the charm.
