Messages from Home: The Art of Leo Twiggs

A Personal Journey Many years ago, I began experimenting with batik as a painting medium. I liked the color quality and surface treatment of the ancient wax resist method of decorating fabric. In my experiments, I developed ways to control the application of the dyes and to manipulate the traditional crackled surface. The process is tedious, and most works require two to three weeks to complete depending on the size. I have tended to work in series, exploring the same idea in several works. Sometimes, I have returned to a theme, and some themes have continued throughout my career. The works you see here are samples of my personal journey. L.T.
