Surviving Sarah: The Sequel

This book is not one of plot; not one of telling a story from A to Z and finishing with a tidy bow. Neither cliffhanger, nor escapist fantasy, this book is just plain—yet it is plain real. Violent tirades are not conveyed along a Hollywood amplified level; happy times are not propped up with dream fantasies. Even conflicts and characters are not followed through with conventional storytelling results, because sometimes in life they, too, are not. Yet young readers might be able to relate to the mine field of the girls' lives, their living with a broken household, enduring the fallout of a parent who, not altogether, deals with post-traumatic stress, and their learning of ways to make the best of it however they can.
