Love is in the Heart
Description:
Elijah was born with only half of a heart. According to the doctors, his chances of survival were very slim. Just ten days old, he had his first open heart surgery and he survived. His parents, Henry and Sarah Friesen knew it was not his last. Elijah was never able to run and play like other small boys. What little he had of a heart, was able to supply only enough oxygen to keep him alive. Any other exertion of energy could well be life threatening to him. In the fall of 2010, at the age of five, Elijah was on a heart transplant list. Doctors said without a new heart, his life expectancy was less than six more months. There was another little boy; his name was Matthew. Ten years old, he was energetic, loved cheeseburgers and baseball. On October 1, 2010 Matthew came into the house complaining about a headache. The next morning his mother, Mary Jane found him laying on the floor. He was unresponsive so she rushed him to the hospital ER. The diagnosis; Matthew had suffered a rare brain aneurysm. He was not going to survive. In spite of her grief, his mother, Mary Jane, decided to donate Matthew s organs for transplant. Matthew s body and his vital organs were now placed on life support. Soon jet airplanes were taking off with the life saving cargo of donated organs, for waiting transplant recipients. Matthew s heart was going to save the life of six year old Elijah. Your heart will beat with emotion, as you re-live the story of two loving mothers; Sarah and Mary Jane, and their two little boys who never met, but shared one heart. As you read it - you will agree Love is in the Heart
