This book was originally published in 1956 and had long been out of print when it was updated with addition of several new chapters in 1986 in this second edition from the C&O Historical Society. Dr. Turner presented information from corporate records that have long since disappeared, making this the nearest thing available to a primary source for C&O history. Also covers motive power, rolling stock, history of the Chessie kitten, and summary histories of two of the C&O's predecessors, the Pere Marquette and the Hocking Valley Railway.
