Description:
The title, Come Thou Reign Over Us, is taken from the parable of the trees in Judges 9:8-15 in which the bramble (thorn) is invited to become king of the trees. The symbolism of the Judges passage is that of Israel rejecting God as their King and accepting an impostor (the thorn). The theme of the book begins with Noah and his sons; Shem, Ham, and Japheth whose physical, mental, and spiritual traits would be transferred to all future generations after the great flood of Genesis 9. From the prophecy of Noah in Genesis 9 the book traces the influence of the descendants of each of Noah's sons in subsequent biblical history. The "thorn" motif is traced through the Bible and concludes that Satan's success in his subversion of God's plan for mankind was tied to the susceptibility of Noah's three sons and their descendants to his particular methods of attack.
