South Bay monogatari: Tales of the South Bay Nikkei community (Chula Vista, the early years)

Monogatari is a Japanese word that may be loosely translated as, "tales," or a little more precisely, "to tell things about things." Through the use of oral interviews, Japanese language materials, and a wide variety of sources that have come into my possession over the last thirty odd years. I have tried to relate the South Bay Nikkei story through a series of "tales," and to present them as fairly and as honestly as I know how.
