Rangers and Pioneers of Texas: With a Concise Account of the Early Settlements, Hardships, Massacres, Battles, and Wars, by Which Texas Was Rescued

This book is divided into three basic sections which include accounts of Indian battles as told to Sowell by individuals who took part ----followed by the early Anglo history of Texas with materials on the Sowell family, which arrived in 1829 and on the Texas revolution and the Texas republic. The most extensive third section are Sowell's personal reminiscences of his participation as a Texas Rangers in the 1870-1871 Wichita Campaign.
