Panic! at Fort Stevens: Japanese Navy Shells Fort Stevens, Oregon in World War-II : Documentary
Description:
Long-range Imperial Japanese submarine I-25 was part of the Aleutian Campaign. It and I-26 were dispatched to Cape Flattery to look for U. S. naval interference that might be enroute to the Aleutians. Both attacked ships near the Str. of Juan de Fuca. I-26 also shelled the Estevan Point, B. C. lighthouse while I-25 went to the Columbia River. There, I-25 shot at Fort Stevens, not aware of the big guns of Battery Russell that could have blasted the sub out of the water had an American Colonel commanded "FIRE"! --- from book's back cover
