Her parents arrived in China as missionaries devoted to sharing their message of peace. Elsie Landstrom was born on the lovely mountain in central China known as Lushan. The Wuhu Hospital in Anhwei, established by Americans, became the center of her young life; the children who lived in smoky huts along the banks of the Yangtze River became her companions.
