The Nelson Island Eskimo: Social structure and ritual distribution (The Alaskana book series)

This book is a major contribution o knowlege because it focuses on one of the most inadequately studied Eskimo groups, namely, the people of southwest Alaska. It is probably the best account of Eskimo ritual that has been produced, and is also a superior analysis of an Eskimo naming system. It is an anthropological study of a people living in Southwest Alaska and is based primarily on the author's field research.
